BUFFALO, NY - Terry and Kim Pegula have issued a statement about their reported interest in the Buffalo Bills and the importance of keeping the team in Western New York.
The following is a statement issued by Mike Gilbert, VP of Public and Community Relations for the Buffalo Sabres:
"Terry and Kim Pegula have a deep commitment to Buffalo and Western New York. Their ownership of the Buffalo Sabres and Rochester Americans and the construction of HARBORCENTER are evidence of that fact. Like everyone else in this community, they have a strong desire to have the Buffalo Bills remain a centerpiece of this region. Accordingly, they have been following the developments involving the sale of the Bills. However, out of respect for the process being conducted by representatives of the Wilson Estate and the Bills, they will not be making any additional comments about the sale process."
Last week, 2-On-Your-Side's Adam Benigni cited three sources as indicating the Pegulas are preparing to bid for the Bills.
The Associated Press reported on Thursday, citing a source, that the Pegulas had received the initial paperwork from representatives of the Wilson estate, that included a preliminary non-disclosure agreement.
In addition to owning the Sabres, they also own the Rochester Americans and begun development of HARBORCENTER in downtown Buffalo.
