CLEMSON, SC- QB Chad Kelly, the nephew of former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, has been dismissed from the Clemson Tiger football team, coach Dabo Swinney announced Monday afternoon.
"He has had a pattern of behavior that is not consistent with the values of our program. I hope he will mature and grow from this and become the man and player I know he can be. I wish him nothing but the best in the future academically and athletically," Swinney said.
Swinney was not specific regarding the exact reason for Kelly's dismissal.
Last season, Kelly played in five games, passing for 56 yards and running for 117 yards and a touchdown.
Kelly graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in Kenmore in 2012. He won the Connolly Cup in 2011. The award is presented to the most outstanding high school football player in WNY.
