BUFFALO, NY-- Residents on Buffalo's west side are joining together in an effort to keep a methadone clinic out of their neighborhood.

The parent organization of Hispanics United wants to open the clinic on the corner of Virginia and 10th streets.

Neighbors say the group did not follow federal rules, and never informed them about plans to build a clinic. Some residents feel it should not be placed in a residential area, but rather near a medical facility.

Hispanics United officials say they've followed all the rules and the clinic is necessary to help fight the city's growing heroin problem.

Protesters rallied Friday afternoon outside of Hispanics United offices.
