BUFFALO, N.Y. - The chancellor of the State University of New York says she'll personally engage the chief executive officers at the state's largest companies to increase SUNY's paid internships.
Chancellor Nancy Zimpher made the promise during her State of the University address Tuesday in Albany.
She says she's looking for 100 percent participation from New York's Fortune 500 companies in the SUNY Works initiative meant to better prepare students of the public university system for the workplace.
Zimpher also formally announced the launch of Open SUNY - an expansion of online learning across the SUNY system, and plans to appoint a task force to propose ways to improve diversity at SUNY.
