CLARENCE, N.Y.- It's an eclectic collection of structures along Main Street in Clarence: an old farmhouse from 1858, a water wheel that was added more than a century later despite the lack of any running water nearby, and a caboose and two train cars far from any railroad.

They're all a part of the Red Mill Inn, a fixture in that area for decades. Owner Dan Hanley has run it in its current form for 22 years and says he strives to keep an old-fashioned American dining style in a time that many restaurants try to stay on the cutting edge.

The restaurant offers award-winning prime rib, along with other hearty meals like pot roast, turkey, and liver and onions. The seafood bisque and other fish dishes get high praise from customers.

Each room in the restaurant offers a very different dining experience- the most unique of which is the Pullman dining car that's still available for eating in (though if you're looking for this, call ahead- the cost of heating a long metal box in the winter and cooling it in the summer means it's often only open on weekends).
